Village Roots — Privacy Policy

Your village never leaves your phone.

Last updated 30 September 2026. This policy covers Village Roots, the Android game by orb2bit (package com.orb2bit.villageroots). It explains, in plain language, what the game does and doesn't do with your data. Our other products are covered by the orb2bit privacy policy.

The short version

Village Roots does not collect, send, share or sell any personal information. The game has no account or sign-in, no advertising, no analytics and no crash reporting, and it contains no third-party services that collect data. It runs entirely on your device, and nothing you do in it leaves your phone. We receive no information about you or your device from the game, and we keep no database about you.

What stays on your device

To let you carry on where you left off, the game keeps these files in its own storage on your phone:

  • Your village. The save game: your villagers, buildings, fields and everything in your chests.
  • Your settings. Things like sound volume and when reminders may be sent.
  • A random player ID. Made on your phone and shown in Settings > About, so you can quote it if you ever email us. It is not linked to your name, your Google account or your device.

None of these are sent to us or to anyone else. You can delete the village at any time in Settings > Privacy > Delete this village, make your own copy with Settings > Privacy > Copy your save out, or remove everything by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the game.

Internet

The game does not need an internet connection and does not send any data over the internet. Android lists network access among the game's permissions because the Unity engine it is built with asks for it; Village Roots does not use it to send anything.

Notifications

The game can remind you when your village needs you, for example when food is running low. These reminders are scheduled on your phone itself: no server is involved and no information is sent anywhere. On Android 13 and later the game asks your permission before showing any. You can turn them off in the game (Settings > Alerts) or in your phone's settings at any time.

Buying the game

Village Roots is bought through Google Play, and Google handles the payment. We never see your card or other payment details. Google gives developers limited information about each order (such as an order number, the date, the country and the price), which we use only for our own accounts and tax records. Google's handling of your purchase is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.

What the game never does

  • No accounts, no sign-in and no email address, ever.
  • No ads, no advertising ID and no in-app purchases.
  • No analytics, tracking or crash-reporting code of any kind.
  • No location, contacts, camera or microphone permissions.
  • No selling or renting of data, to anyone, for anything.

Children

Village Roots is not aimed at children under 13. Because it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children either.

Changes & contact

If the game ever starts to collect or send any information, for example for online play, this policy will be updated before that version is released and the date at the top will change. Questions about your data or the game? Email support@orb2bit.com.
